The different ciders and salad dressings were reasonable and very good. Very friendly storekeeper. Fun place to visit while in Charlottesville. Good scenery and absolutely beautiful location. Must be amazing in fall.

We just visited the Carter Mountain Orchard on April 26, 2013. Although the wineries are the most boasted about Charlottesville attraction, this orchard should NOT be missed. Beautiful scenery, pick your own apples and an amazing store for local apple products. Make sure you do not miss out on the apple salsa or apple cider. They sell the cider in...

Got to CMO very late (at closing time) but still sold my wife some things. The view is awesome. I wish they stayed open longer but someone (owner? worker?) told me everyone got to dinner in C-Ville around 5 anyway, and then again, I'm not there working all day from probably 5 AM. We hope to be back really soon.
Made the drive up to carter's mountain with our daughters and had a lovely time! The apples we picked were divine and it had a great view over the area. It was quite busy that saturday so I would arrive early. It was a nice way to spend time as a family!
For a classic and fun family day of apple picking, hay rides, greasy, cinnamon sugar rolled homemade apple donuts, and panoramic views of Charlottesville and the mountains beyond, head up Carter's Mountain in the fall.
great view over cville. fun to pick some apples or peaches. the shop is so-so. you might get some wicked stink bug swarms in the fall. central virginia is having a problem with those. but this is a nice place to spend an hour or two.
That was the worst experience with my children ever. Hoards of people, out of doughnut before 10am then when the 11am egg hunt finally started at almost half an hour late, the first 5 kids in got all the eggs. Sad and crying kids is not my idea of family fun. Same can be said of the last 4 times...

I attended a event at Carter's Mountain where the wine and cheese were served, very nice service and enjoyed tasting the different wines.
This place is breathtaking, merely from a nature standpoint. Drive up and take in the view of Charlotesville while enjoying a crispy, hot apple cider donut. Buy some apples. Take a hay ride. Enjoy your family in the beauty that is Central Virginia.
Delicious apples of all varieties. You can pick your own in the fall and check their online ripeness calendar so you can pick your favorite variety.
