Beach has no waves, so is great for small children. The sunset over the Chesapeake Bay is beautiful!

The water is clear, the beach nearly empty and there are no-few jetskis (a big no-no in these parts.) You have to walk nearly a quarter mile to get to mid-waist water depth so that alone makes it fun for kids and grown-ups. No lifeguards. Salt bay water.
Just spent four days with family at nearby campground which is beachless for sand play. We were told Cape Charles has a proper playsand beach and drove over the few miles to there. My family and I love this pier and beach. Fun to crab and fish off the pier and the best part is the licience is provided by the town so it's free! The beach is clean and the best sunsets on the bay!
