Navigating the all uphill climb was a slight challenge, but worth it for the view. We saw nature's beauty at its finest

We spent the day snowshoeing and sledding here, as the road is closed off during the winter. We were fortunate to go during a clear, sunny day and had a wonderful time. Everyone was friendly. Many families around, and groups with dogs. Many activities were possible from sledding, skiing, snowshoeing, or just hiking through the snow. As we are new... More

My husband and I took our first self-directed "leaf-peeping" tour in October. This was one of the recommended areas to view the fall foliage, and it didn't disappoint!! Don't let all of the reviews about the highway being a single lane around the curves scare you away. I was very concerned, but the actuality was much better and safer than... More

We visited the "Notch" road this late Februrary weekend and the winter conditions are still fabulous for cross country skiing, snow shoeing, hiking on the hard packed snow and dog walking. The snow is still covering the tops of the guard rails so there is a great base. The parking area is just beyond the parking lots for Stowe ski... More

Make sure you have the right shoes, and just explore and enjoy. It's a bit of a drive to get here, (past many wonderful areas, and views, but well worth the trip. The hike and views are wonderful.

But I certainly want to come back and visit. It looks spectacular. It would be good if we could indicate seasonal openings on tripadvisor. Looks like it is only open from May to October

OK, some good views, makes more sense to go to the area for the skiing, which is pretty good when the conditions are

We had a fantastic time at the Smuggler's Notch State Park. This small park, with friendly, helpful staff offered us great value for our money when were visited in the fall. The bathrooms were spotlessly clean. They did feature pay showers, requiring quarters. 4 minutes = 50 cents. The showers were hot and had full pressure. There is no warning... More

The drive is well worth it, the beautiful huge bolders take your breath away. We went when it was cold and misty and added to the mystical factor. Loved it!
