You have got to want to go to Goosenecks State Park. It is not easy to get to because it is certainly out of the way. Once you get there, however, the view of the river down below and the layers of rock that have been carved away, is AWESOME. Because this is a small, out of the way Park,... More

I wouldn't go out of my way for this, but if you are driving between Moab and Monument Valley you should definitely stop - it's spectacular and takes five minutes. There's nothing to do, nowhere to walk, but the view is excellent.

If travelling along the 261 between Monument Valley and Blanding, I would definitely recommend a short detour to Goosenecks State Park. The view is awesome! The depth and vastness has to be seen to be believed. This park is very quiet and receives few visitors. Walking along the edge is amazing and the sparseness of visitors means you can relax... More

Obviously not a 'must see' for many people, but this is really worth a stop if travelling between Bluff and Monument Valley. Very few people, magnificent awesome views....and the sound of silence. Pull in - you will not be disappointed.

During our recent 'Grand Circle' trip we could not visit the Horseshoe bend near Page due to closure of Rt 89 (ask before you leave Grand Canyon - there are no road signs before the actual closure!!!!). So after our fabulous stay at the Monument Valley we decided to visit it on our way to Moab (it is only 4.5... More

Maybe we came at the wrong time, but Goosenecks SP didn't really do it for us! It's fab to look at but nowhere near the grandeur of Horseshoe Bend, and nowhere near as good to photograph, as it lacks the colour of the Arizona rival! But that said, it's a nice spot to visit if you're in the area.

This view is incredible--you see the San Juan River from above as it winds around in switchback turns through the terrain. It is a bit tough to get a panoramic view from above, but nonetheless it's fun. There is a picnic area, and plenty of rocks to sit on as well. It's not far off the main road, and is... More

Goosenecks State Park is about 30 miles from Monument Valley. The Park overlooks the San Juan River where it carved thousand-foot-deep meanders into the surrounding landscape as the landscape slowly rose in elevation millions of years ago. I realize that Goosenecks State Park may not be on anyone’s list of top places to visit, whereas the Horseshoe Bend on the... More

Don't miss this gem between Bluff and Monument Valley. The view is stellar. Bathrooms are available but no running water is available.

The gooseneck is a very quiet ... the formation of the canyon created by the San Juan River is amazing ... It was my first stop after driving 6 hours from Albuquerque .... the condition of the roads is very good ... although only about 30 minutes as I use the time to take several photographs of the place, except...
