Yes - it is tough to get a permit. After many failed attempts we got lucky and got an on-line permit - for six! The lottery winners who were at The Wave the day we were there said there were 89 people in line for the lottery the previous day for the ten spots. Yikes! That is a clear indication... More

i have done research. i have waited online, the phone. i have shown up for the in-person lottery but im ashamed to say, im a 5x looser getting to see the wave. please note: you will not be disappointed if you do get in but one must have patience, diligence to visit here. even the volunteers that work the area... I was lucky to win my permit during online lottery for my hike in April 2012 - what a nice present I got on Jan 1st! We hiked the Wave on April 3rd 2012. I had a regular rental car, so I made a reservation to rent an SUV in Page (http://canyoncountryjeep.com/) for one day - expensive (paid total $150... More

Very hard to obtain a Permit but once you've conquered that huddle then the place itself is quite spectacular. But it's just one spot in a region of a zillion spots. Good Luck !!! More

"The Wave" is actually an old sea bed that have formed over centuries of wind and water. It is out in the middle of nowhere and is not for the faint of heart to reach. It requires about a 7 mile hike round trip and access is VERY limited by the Grand Staircase National Monument. Only about twenty passes are... More

We went on a blustery wintry day and had The Wave almost to ourselves. Not that it is every crowded since the BLM only issues a handful of permits each day (if you miss the online lottery there is a day-before lottery held at the BLM Visitor Ctr. here in Kanab). The place is unlike any other place I've ever... More

Well, what can I say... we went here in December 2009 (not 2011, sorry could not choose 2009!!). We have seen a lot of the world, many beautiful places, but this one is still the most beautiful place on earth. The experience of getting there, the clear blue skies in combination with some snow on the mountains and then the... More

We had tried the online lottery for 2 months but didnt get anything. We then turned up at the visitor centre for the following days lottery but again were unsuccessful. The rangers are very, very helpful and friendly and despite being unsuccessful, we were directed down to Wire Pass for a walk through the slot canyons there and they were... More

We have made four trips now to the Southwest and have done the Lake Powell - Coloardo Float Trip - all the other hikes - but was hesitant to try this one as we thought it might be too difficult - it was just fine - just bring water and watch your steps when you walk - like someone said... More
