This is a small zoo, but is just right for young kids. My kids get tired walking through the bigger zoos in Dallas and Fort Worth. We are usually getting close to the end when they get tired at Ellen Trout Zoo. You also get to be much closer to the animals here than at the bigger zoos. It is... More

We took our grandson there a few years ago and liked it so much we bought the season pass for grandparents. It is inexpensive, informative, well maintained and has shade for those hot Texas days.

Nice zoo. Shaded so not too hot. Tons of birds, especially peacocks. There weren't many monkeys which was a little disappointing. There is a train ride and a nice play area. Only negative that I can find is I wish the play area was inside the zoo. That way the little ones could take a break and play then see... More

Come out now ... Once the heat comes in everything is so different. Animals were all out in force. Great day for a visit

We love taking our kids to this zoo- even on hot days, it is considerably cooler in the zoo due to wonderful shade provided by trees. Admission is reasonable, but for only $40 you can get an annual family pass which also gets you a discount or free admission to other zoos in the country, and 10% off gift shop... More

I LOVE this little ZOO!! it's an inexpensive day trip to take the family, spend the day, and have some quality family time together. We picnic in the park, feed the ducks and the kids play at the playground. Then we walk through the zoo, which has a lot to see for the price and size of the zoo, and... More

A great way to spend an afternoon with the kids. Lots of shade from the hot sun, numerous areas with picnic tables. Don't expect much from the concession though. Outside the zoo is two great play areas, and the minature train ride. Very reasonably priced.

This is a really quaint zoo, but it is terrribly overrun with peacocks. Translation: You have to be very careful where you walk and where you sit as these are messy birds. The exhibits are nice, but seeing peacocks inside eating the animals food is disheartening. It is an easy and pleasant walk through the zoo if you ignore all... More

We may be a small town, but we have a big time zoo. We take our grandchildren EVERY time they visit (4 to 5 times per year) and they have a wonderful time each and every time. They look for "their brick" in the walk way as they head for the hippo exhibit. The zoo is aways clean and animals... More
