Galveston does not have white sand or blue water, so any of the beaches are pretty much the same so..............After spending 4 different spring breaks down in Galveston. I will have to comment on Poretto Beach. It is a great non-crowded private beach with some of the best folks working it. You can park right down on the beach and... More

First, it was October, so the beaches were deserted. The weather was 85 degrees and we had the beach almost to ourselves, but there was a lifeguard on duty. There was free parking easily available. No umbrella or chair stands because the season was over. The beach itself was littered and the water muddy, but the kids enjoyed it. Would... More

We only had the afternoon, so we just sat on the beach. It was not that crowded for a Sunday afternoon. However, the city needs to clean up the seaweed! It is a common complaint. There are no bathroom facilities. Texas needs a good beach!

I was there memorial day and i have never seen so much seaweed piled up on the beach anywhere. i took into consideration the positive reviews from this very website but i think they are so misleading and probably entered by Poretto beach staff. For a private beach they sure dont care much about cleaning the seaweed at all and... More

This is Galveston's only privately owned beach which means that you pay the owner to park on the beach rather than the City of Galveston. That's the only real difference, the sand is the same and the water is the same which is all good.

We are a pharmaceutical company who have utilized Porretto Beach once before in 2010. After being treated incredibly fair and provided with more than adequate service we plan on returning again this year with 2 more groups and twice as many clients. Porretto Beach accomodated all 190 of us, prepped the beach area and site, provided catering, rolled out the... More

The beach was covered in carpets of seaweed....looked like they hadn't raked all year. Kids really don't enjoy walking on the slimy stuff. No concessions either, which their website shows them to have. The girl taking our entrance fee (7) seemed high and couldn't even tell me what amenities the beach had, ie showers, etc (which there were none). So... More

I by no means am a snob about anything but, my goodness, this place was no better than any public beach on the island. For starters, nobody was at the entrance to tell us where to go(or collect money); Beach was quite hard packed, strewn with things like bottle caps and LOADED with seaweed;THERE WERE NO RESTROOMS!! They did provide... More

It was the best service I've ever seen on a beach. My daughter and I went during spring break and it was pack and they still had time to take care of us. We had a great time and it's a perfect spot.

I took my toddler here for the day on Memorial Day Monday... we arrived at 9am and found a perfect spot to put our umbrella/chairs, down the beach a bit, away from the rentals. We were able to park close to the beach, which was wonderful, as I had lots of supplies on hand to keep my kiddo entertained for... More
