At first it seemed ordinary, but it gradually unfolds into vista after vista. . .Quite a variety of things to see, rocky creeks, Castle-like rock hills, ranches, sweeping valleys, wildflowers. In mid-May, the bluebonnets were done, but judging from the number of seeded out bluebonnet plants we saw, they must be amazing in March and April. We saw lots of... More

This little known drive is such a treasure that we are reluctant to share the information for fear of future congestion! But, at least once, you need to take this 45 minute winding drive and check out the vistas and abundant wildflowers. Gorgeous! Do NOT get out and take photos, however, as the surrounding property is private property and they... More

This year the wildflowers were a little sparse but it is still a gorgeous drive! Took my family hoping to see bluebonnets but they were few and far between this year. It is still a drive I will do every spring with or without flowers.

Awesome road trip just outside of town. Approx. 13.5 miles from town and the entire loop is only 13 miles in length and brings ya back to the main highway. Gorgeous wildflowers, scenic views, livestock, peaceful.

This "country" drive is so peaceful and we really enjoyed the beautiful wildflowers. It's a drive where you just want to take your time and really absorb the restful solitude of the surroundings.

Located just northeast of Fredericksburg, this 13 mile road trip traverses ravines, ranches and rugged, rocky hill country. We traveled the route in both directions, on different days, and preferred the south-to-north trip. There was a fair display of bluebonnets and wildflowers on an off-year. Still, it was worth the drive to see wild countryside and vistas of the hill... More

It is always a treat to ride the WCL, my wife & I must do this every couple of years. However, it is not the same without Harry's. It is closed & up for sale, he was the highlight of the trip! He will be missed.

Great drive for local scenery and wild flowers. A bit narrow at times in the road but not scary. As this is a private road, was asked by the visitors center to please not stop and take pictures-causes traffic clogs and residents to not be able to come and go from their homes.

The flowers were beautiful! Do not miss the boots on the fence rows. What a great picture. Just north of Fredericksburg and a nice drive to get out of town.

Went in late March on way back from Enchanted Rock. Some bluebonnets, some snakes, and very good portrait of rural ;life in the Hill Country. Watch for flooding, and the road is barely 2 lanes, but easy to travel.
