We visited the Tuckaleechee Caverns in Townsend and were pleasantly surprised. We live in the area but never took the time to do this before now. The tour guide was fun and gave lots of information. Lots of stairs, but places to rest. Different formations than in some caves, and you cannot touch them because they are live/wet, with a...

What an experience for the money. Would recommend to see.

We came over from Cave City, KY but really have to say that we liked Tuckaleechee better! It is a "wet" cave (live) so you cannot touch the walls or formations. It has a lot of stairs, some steep but they are spaced out so I would say it is moderately strenuous. There are places/times to rest. Great length without...

This off-the-beaten track attraction in a town not frequently visited was a welcome treat! We read reviews online and decided on a whim to stop by. Do not be deterred by the winding roads, the tiny entrance, or the small gift-shop. The tour guide was informative, helpful, and patient with our group that included the elderly (a grandmother with a...

The caverns are really beautiful. Don't be fooled by the less than attractive entrance and gift shop. The tour is great, tour guides were very imformative, and the features are really pretty and interesting. We had a great time and will probably return in the next few years for a second visit.

The caverns were quite wondrous, especially for kids. The formations, water, and seismic machine were of great interest. On the tour, they even allow you to drink spring water from the source.
This is a good activity when the weather is rainy or hot and you need an "indoor" activity. We saw people on the tour in flipflops, but I...

We decided to visit this cavern on the last day of our visit and really glad we did. This place is incredible and a must see if you are near Townsend.

We have been to many other caves in the past, but this cave is superior to most. Unlike other caves where you are not allowed to touch the rock formations, touching the rocks here is encouraged. Also, in the cave there was seismograph. Earlier in the day they showed us that an earthquake had occurred in Indonesia. It was cool...

This cavern is nestled in the town of Townsend in a small community of farm homes. It's off the beaten trail but signs will get you to this well hidden gem. Not handicap accessible. The caverns are privately owned and one of the attendants is part of that family. The caverns are about 2 miles long and it has 2...
