This is a nice new center but it is a little like a movie set instead of real thing. I hate to criticize a non-profit Center but there is so much free stuff in the townsend area that this seems a shame. The Visitor Cent is free, has clean restrooms and a neat gift shop of local artist and Smoky... More

This is a great place to go to learn about the history and heritage of the mountain people who settled this area. Very infomative and a great place for the whole family! More

Authentic representation of Appalachian way of life from blacksmithing, cooking on the hearth to log cabin construction. Not just educational - it is fun. And in the summer the concert series is excellent, showcasing local and not so local performers. Last summer's Steve Kaufman concert was A+ entertainment. More

We spent nearly two hours with our 4- and 6-year-old kids at this wonderful, hands-on museum. A little more interpretation would have been nice, but exploring the outdoor exhibits was great fun. Nice gift shop too! More
