Hank, Johnny, Chet, George, Tammy, Conway, Loretta, Dolly, Willie . . . there was a time when country music was on a first name basis with its fans. A time when the streets of downtown Nashville were alive with the sound of backroom guitar pulls, Midnight Jamborees and the Grand Ole Opry. Now you can recapture the magic of this golden era on the Walkin’ Nashville Music City Legends Tour. Packed with history and behind-the-scenes anecdotes about your favorite country legends, this 90-minute walking tour tells the real story of how Nashville came to be called Music City. You’ll see Printer’s Alley, The Ryman Auditorium, Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge, Ernest Tubb Record Shop and Hatch Show Print.Your friendly guide is Grammy-nominated journalist and musician, Bill DeMain. A longtime resident of Nashville, he will show you hidden corners of the city not found in any guidebook and tell you stories you won’t hear on any other tour. From APRIL - NOVEMBER, tours run Tuesday, Thursday-SaturdayFrom DECEMBER - MARCH, tours run Friday & Saturday only (weekdays available by special arrangement for groups of 6 or more)Start Time: 10:30 AM (Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to check in)Tour Length: Approx. 90 minutes « less

My friend and I found Bill's tour on Trip Advisor. Luckily there was a tour the next day. So much wonderful information which made the rest of our stay more meaningful. Bill also emailed after the tour with fantastic links of musical interest.

This is an opportunity that is not to be missed if you have a couple of hours to spare and you love country music. Shucks, even if you don't like country music Bill DeMain will convert you on this walking tour thru the musical history of Nashville. Bill is interesting, knowledgeable and quite the character. I'd advise a good pair... More

We got into Nashville late evening and had booked the tour for the next morning. So glad we did! The tour started just a few blocks from our hotel (Homewood Suites on Church St.) Neither of us had been to Nashville before so the walk downtown, stopping at the prime locations was perfect. Bill DeMain is so knowledgable and a... More

We took the tour yesterday- really not too sure what to expect. I had booked it online the day before. With the confirmation, Bill also suggested some parking sites. We did have a bit of trouble finding parking. (many garages were full at 10 am). The group was about 15-20 people. There was not so much walking and it was... More

I always feel that the best way to get to know a city is through a good tour guide! Bill DeMain is entertaining and informative. He has either experienced his stories first hand or researched the history thoroughly. He has access to areas that you may not otherwise see which is a plus. He stops frequently so that you do... I looked up this musical walking tour before I left for my trip to Nashville and the reviews were so enthusiastic, I booked it as soon as I arrived. I was not disappointed. The walk itself doesn't cover a particularly large geographical area- only a few blocks really- but the quantity and quality of the anecdotes Bill tells as he... More

In town for a graduation and every one of the 10 people in our group was thrilled with this tour. It was the perfect amount of walking, stories, comedy and prizes. You get a good glimpse of the Broadway area and more. The e-mail that comes after has a wonderful collection of music videos that are mentioned in the tour.... More

We just moved to Nashville so we thought this would be a good introduction and it was. We had some friends visiting so the 4 of us did the tour. Bill has an encyclopedic knowledge of both the music industry as well as Nashville history. And he's not a native! He talked for almost 2 solid hours, had lots of... More

The great thing about this tour is Bill gives you a lot of history. You could just walk around downtown and you would miss a lot. Bill shares how music evolved in this town and who the key players were. You do not walk as much as I expected, more standing and listening to Bill. I highly recommend this tour... More

My husband and I took this tour on Friday, April 26, 2013. There were about 12 other people on the tour, which was due to the large number of people in town for the Music City marathon and half marathon. Bill was incredible, and everyone greatly enjoyed it. The tour lasted about 2.25 hours and we got to hear great... More
