Lots of hills and plenty of miles of beautiful trails. Bring a friend or bring a dog and get your sweat on!
Beautiful park with all the usual additions (ball & soccer fields, picnic areas, nature walks, etc). The middle Tennessee high schools use it regularly for their cross country competitions. But it is May when it really comes alive with the running of the Iroquois Steeplechase. 20,000+ visitors make it a really big deal.
The paved trails and dirt trails can get long and hilly, but the views and possibility of seeing wildlife makes the work well worth it. Only the trails and shelters are given the human touch; these parks take you away from civilization with vast acres of pure natural beauty.
A great place for a hike or run. They are huge parks but with lots of well marked trails and beautiful areas to picnic or just read a book.
