Although I am a frequent visitor to the restaurant within the museum and have been to some of the special exhibits, I had not toured the permanent collection in a few years. We went to see the exhibit of Swedish art glass and were drawn to the dramatic display of the permanent collection. This museum does not receive enough local... More

I went to the 5oth anniversary screening of The Birds, and it was great. Before I heard about this screening I didn't even know they showed movies here. A bit of a pretentious intro by a local teacher, a couple of interesting promos and then a great movie with a small audience. Plus, if you go early you can walk... More

I visited the Brooks Museum to see the Romare Bearden Black Odyssey exhibit, which is a truly wonderful interpretation of the Greek Odyssey from a black point of view. Don't miss the audio tour which is well done and has some great jazz accompaniments. An exhibition of photo collages of Indian waterways by Andrew Saftel was also excellent. There was... More

My daughter and I have always enjoyed going to the art museum to look at famous paintings, specifically Impressionist painters like Monet. We were extremely disappointed that this current collection did not have ONE painting on display. Maybe next time:)

My neice had her wedding in front of the gardens outside the Museum. It provided the wonderful setting for a classical romance and marriage. The art work is stunning inside.

Nice museum with an impressive collection of European art, particularly good if you are up for a bit of turn of the century Dutch or Flemish Impressionism. The restaurant is really bad though, they need to invest in a glass washer.

I like the relative smallness of this museum. Small is a relative concept, no? I've visited the Uffizzi, the Met, the Louvre, and many other large museums. They are, of course, wonderful, but also overwhelming. There's something satisfying about being able to take in the beautiful spectrum of Byzantine painting, art of the Americas, June Nam Paik's Vide-O-belisk, and so... More

The art museum has three floors, but still small and even cozy in some of the rooms.. The building is lovely and looks like a grand mansion. It works well with the intense colors painted on the walls, which show off the intensity of the paintings on the walls. There is a variety of styles, from portraits to wooden furniture,... More

The collection of paintings is small, but well-organized. It is always a pleasure to enjoy several wonderful paintings in a room to oneself! I visited on December 2nd, and there was no charge, either for the permanent collection, or for the fabulous Tiffany exhibit, on display until mid-January 2013. I took two tours of the Tiffany glass and silver. A... More

A lovely settin gin Overton Park. Be sure and stop in the eclectic gift shop for fun items are very reasonable prices. Make a reseration for your lunch as soon as you enter as it gets very busy at lunch time- well worth the wait though. The museum is small but full of wonderful paintings.
