Being on the University of Tennessee campus, parking can be "interesting" sometimes, so a Sunday afternoon visit is often the best. McClung Museum (no admission charge) has a number of permanent exhibits including, for example, "Archaeology & Native Peoples of Tennessee" and "Geology & Fossil History of Tennessee". This is a great museum and has never been crowded when I go. Since it is free, you can just go in and see part of it whenever you have time. More

I visit this museum frequently - admission is free. Being a bird lover, the Audubon exhibits are greatly appreciated. More

Never had a bad visit to the McClung Museum. It's small but well thought out the exhibits are usually very interesting. I do not recommend this or any museum for small children as there is not much for them to do and they also need to be quiet to respect the serious visitors. They are better off at a museum... More

Small museum on UT Knoxvilles campus. They always have interesting exhibits. Well thought out and always well designed. Great for both kids and adults alike. The only problem is parking during the regular semester. You have to stop and get a parking permit (which is free) as you enter circle park. But I belive you can ask for a museum... More
