Confederate Gen. Otto French Strahl was born in Ohio, but called Dyersburg home at the time the Civil War began. Here he helped recruit soldiers for the Confederate Army. On Nov. 30, 1864, Strahl died at the battle of Franklin, Tenn., leading his troops in action. Today Strahl's grave in Dyersburg is marked with a monument containing a cannon barrel... More
