This is a true place to stop and view in Mitchell. It is tucked away and is a little more difficult to find unlike the corn palace but is worth the effort! More

This was an interesting, laid back but very informative tour of an active excavation on the site of an ancient Indian village. Nothing earth shattering or anything, but we all had a pleasant and interesting time. More for the grown ups probably, but not bad for the kids either with a couple of fun activities thrown in. And beats the... More

Seeing a real archeological site was extremely interesting. Good museum, especially given that this is based on one site. For us, the most fun was trying our skills with a spear and atlatl. More

While passing through Mitchell we decided to stop in and see the Indian Village. The staff was very polite and even let the kids (ages 10 and 11) place a pin on a giant map to show where we were visiting from. Other activities the boys enjoyed were spear throwing and the arrowhead dig. Overall this visit was very informative,... More

This place surprised me as there was absolutely NO boredom (like there usually is on anything educational) all 3 of us absolutely enjoyed it here. There was a lot of hands on and interesting things here- our favorite was the archeodome. Inside there was an active dig which was interesting to look at. There was a sorting station to sort... More

My kids, 6 and 8 really enjoyed the museaum but especially the outdoor activities. They learned about prehistoric indian life and found arrowheads in a pretend dig. The hole family enjoyed it. They are located right on lake mitchell which is beautiful and they have a nice picnic area too. More
