We were doing a self-guided walking tour along Broad Street in Charleston, when we happened upon St. Michael's Episcopal Churchyard. The gate was open, so we entered and immediately a serene calm compelled us to be very quiet as we walked the narrow paths between the graves and family plots. Many of the founding fathers were interred here, including the... More

One of many places not to miss. This is jammed packed with so much history. I loved the cedar box pews there. You will want to make a stop here and appreciate the beauty of the exterior and interior.

On Good Friday, understandably I couldn't tour the church, but an usher informed me of a virtual tour at StMichaelsChurch.net. Located at 71 Broad Street (843/723-0603), it's close to Nathaniel Russell House, where the usher suggested I visit. I wasn't dressed appropriately, thus I did not stay for services, but I toured the grounds. On my next Charleston visit, St.... More

So beautiful inside. Loved the enclosed seating. Stayed to enjoy the short noonday prayer service. Sat in seating #43 where George Washington had sat. Little cementery outside had beautiful gravestone.

Beautiful church, so much history, felt really good being there. To imagine all of those who were there before me!

Loved the stain glass, a lot of history, as George Washington actually attended a service there, as did General Lee. The church still have the purchased pews that used to be prevalent in Charleston many years ago.

Beautiful old church filled with beautiful people. Heard a wonderful sermon entitled “God in Your Grill” by Rev. David Booman.

We normally worship at St. Phillips in Charleston but this trip wanted to try the gorgeous St. Michael's located at the Four Corners. Excellent sermon, choir, overall worship but we find the folks at St. Phillips more like likely to introduce themselves. One annoying fact - Charleston church websites are rarely up to date with service times!

Very old and interesting cemetery attached to church. Must see church interior and read plaques on walls, see beautiful wooden pews with seating, etc. Well worth a visit.

This is a beautiful church in the heart of downtown with very nice stain glass windows and carved wood interior. The cemetary in the yard is very beautiful and has the graves of some distinguished Charlestonians.
