Great view of the beach, worth seeing but the bottom of the stairs can be a bit hard to navigate for most due to erosion. It is a rock pile that you can pick your way down to the beach through. The beach has a few sandy spots but is mostly rocky.

Mohegan Bluffs is a beautiful sight and one you shouldn't miss on the island. Just keep in mind that if you go down the 150 steps, you'll have to come back up. You can't exit on the beach because the rocks make it VERY difficult to navigate. It's well worth seeing--either from the top of the bottom.
No bid deal steps going down to beach but end abruptly and you have to traverse rocks and loose sand when there cant do anything too rough and rocky stay on top of stairs and look from there
Since the Block Island high season doesn't begin until May, everyone said we were crazy for hopping on the Narragansett Ferry in mid-April for our first trip to the island. Everyone could not have been more wrong! Granted most of the shops and restaurants weren't open and it was quite blustery and cold. But we were well-prepared, warmly dressed and...

One of the best views you can get of the ocean, rocks around the island. It's a 250 steps walk down for a splendid sight of nature. Enjoy the scenery and take some pictures. Highly recommended.
This is by far one of the coolest places for a day trip from ANYWHERE in RI. I grew up in the area and visit Block Island whenever possible and totally agree with the wonderful reviews here. Mohegan Bluffs is not to be missed if you make the trip over to B.I. It has something to offer for everyone. Check...

No one ever misses the bluffs at Block Island. One of the best spots in the world. If you don't mind a good hike down and back up the stairs a day on the beach below is perfect. Bring a cooler and lots of sustenance.
This should definitely be on your list of to-dos during your trip to Block Island. There's a warning at the top of the steps that dictate the steep steps, but you see all the little kids and families do it. It's definitely steep, and the steps stop about 30-40 feet to the beach, and you end up climbing down the...

Be prepared to walk back up the stairs that lead down to the beach. Also read about the history of the Indians and the Bluffs...incredible.
It's hard to imagine that there are cliffs like that in Rhode Island. They look like something you'd expect to see on the coast of California.
