We are from the DC area, and always go to the National Zoo, but the Pittsburgh Zoo puts the National Zoo (except for the National Zoo's new elephant accommodations which are the best I have seen anywhere), and many others, to shame. They have so many animals on display and the facilities seem to be some of the best. We... More

Love the Polar Bears. The monkeys are always awesome and so active. Don't forget to go to Summer Safari!

The zoo was nice and clean. Although the train wasn't running even though it was a holiday weekend...I'm glad we got there early because when we left they weren't letting patrons in until people left I guess they were at capacity. All in all a good day. My toddler loved the log ride and the petting zoo, and the play... More

I have always had a great time at the Pittsburgh Zoo! Animals have lots of room to walk around and seem relatively happy. Great food and people. Visit!!!!

Bring the stroller would be my best tip! We got there early, about 15 minutes after it opened and left around 12:00 and it was getting much more crowded. Would probably be tough on a very hot day, a lot of outdoor time, but overall, an excellent adventure!

The Pittsburgh Zoo is a great way to spend a day if you are in the Pittsburgh area. When you arrive you have the strange, yet classical Pittsburgh, experience of having to climb a mountain of steps, or ride the elevator or escalator, to get from the parking area to the actual zoo. Once you make it to the top... More

I like zoos so husband and I visited the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium on a recent trip home to Ohio. It was a little difficult to find as signage was very sporadic. Thought cost was not horrific, given the price of other family-type entertainment these days. I would rather over-pay at the zoo than a commercial enterprise. Anyhow, it... More

Well laid out zoo that ensures everyone sees the animals and the animals appear to be well taken care. The only issue is that some of the enclosures seem small for a few animals.

This zoo offers great viewing from multiple sides of an exhibit - which gives a better chance of actually seeing the animals! My family had a great time visiting this zoo and aquarium and the kids loved the multiple playgrounds throughout. It was amazing to touch the stingray and get splashed by another. Also, walking through the shark tank is... More

I recommend visiting the Pittsburgh Zoo on a weekday. We have visited twice in the past 2 years and it was much more enjoyable going during the week than it was on the weekend. I found that the crowds were almost unbearable and it was a strain to try to get to see many of the animals due to the... More
