Kennett Square is a very neat town to explore, but neatest of all is this delightful shop and its charming, friendly owner. Take a few minutes to watch the video and be surprised by all that goes into raising millions of mushrooms, especially the amount of recycling involved, not to mention the economic impact on the area. This is a must! We enjoyed a short video on mushroom farming and were treated to a pound of button mushrooms free with a $10. purchase (coupon). All things mushrooms in the mushroom capital of the world.

We had such a good time browsing in this shop. We tasted and bought the dried mushroom cap snacks. Different and good to munch on! The selection of gifts, mushroom "stuff" - dip mixes, mushrooms, etc., cards... it was fun to stop and shop a bit in this store. We ate dinner across the street at Portabello's and discovered there... More

For the mushroom capital of the world, there really isn't too much to see. This little gift shop has a variety of mushroom related products and fresh and dried mushrooms for sale too. Nothing too exciting.

This is a great place to buy fresh mushrooms when you are in Kennett Square. Located "downtown", they have a wide selection of mushroom-themed gifts and fresh mushrooms to buy. the proprietor also has a selection of dried and flavored mushroom slices that she sells virtually world-wide. In the back room with the mushrooms is a small but interesting display... More

This is more or less a store selling all things mushroom related. There is a little thing in the back of the store that describes the processes of mushroom farming and distributing but its pretty weak. You may spend 15 min here as it is in no way a museum of any sorts. Everything is pretty expensive too.

Museum definition: a place where important things are preserved........................ Most of the "mushroom" items in the back are original pieces from Phillips Mushroom Museum which closed in 2001, including a model of a mushroom house (most visitors think mushrooms are grown in caves). Other museum quality pieces are from other growers in the area. Because tours are not offered throughout... More

I had hoped to visit the Phillips Mushroom Museum, which apparently closed some time ago. This was a poor substitute. There was a meager display on how mushrooms are grown and some incredibly overpriced gift items featuring mushrooms.

Yes, the Phillips Mushroom Museum closed in 2012. We are fortunate to have some of the best pieces from that musuem for all to see. It is a little part of our heritage here in the Mushroom Capital of the World. Our 12 minute video (the "meager" display in action) replaces the often requested farm tour (only available once a... Picked daily, you can't get mushrooms any fresher, and a clothing consignment shop too.
