If in Byron, the lighthouse is definitely worth checking out. We saw whales off the beach when we went, and the walk along the beach is nice as well.

Great views and walking paths. Also, you can stop by the most eastern point in Australia. The day we were walking around up here there were a bunch (pod?) of dolphins surfing waves for quite a while. It was a blast to watch. Lots of picture opportunities.

I choose to hike up to the lighthouse as opposed to going by car. The hike is not to long however it is somewhat strenuous due to a large number of earthen stairs.
