You can easily make a day out of hanging out on City Island. They offer horse-drawn carriage rides, an arcade and batting cages, and train rides. Took a walk around City Island today since it was sunny, albeit a little cold. In winter the island is really only used by commuters to Harrisburg for parking. This is a great place to go for the day. It has a foot bridge connecting it to downtown Harrisburg. It is about 3/4 mile walk around the island itself with kiosk for food and drinks.

Although former Mayor Reed is being blamed for the current financial crisis of Harrisburg - his charming achievement has to be City Island - home of the AA Harrisburg Senators baseball team. But there's much more to City Island than just baseball - soccer, mini-golf, rides, shops, etc. A GREAT place to spend the day with the kids.

Beautiful surroundings that are nice and quiet. Make sure it's a sunny and not so windy day so that you can enjoy your time without being too cold. Be sure to make time for this attraction.
