If you want to get completely absorbed in a green wonderland, this is the place to go. There are so many trails and hills and creeks to explore it's best to have a map and a plan before you set out. If you are in the mood for some of that famous Oregon mossiness and lushness this is the place... More

Cannot say enough about this inland city park. Having grown up in Portland then moving away, we truly appreciate this beautiful forest even more than before.

Go to Forest Park. It's green, the trails are numerous and good, and trailhead parking is rarely, if ever, a problem. I'd prefer to go to Forest Park than get on a treadmill. Forest Park is one of the US's largest urban forest reserves and, when in Portland, it is what we call the West Hills. You'll see three primary... More

my family loves to go for hikes here w/ the dogs. It's always peaceful and very beautiful. it winds around for miles and miles so you can essentially go on a different walk each time. It's so close to civilization too. There are multiple entrances w/in a mile of our house.

We did about 6-7 miles on the Wildwood Trail loop in Forest Park. We weren't overly hot, sweaty or sunburnt. Yet we were a little tired. While I have hiked many places out in the Western US, the shade covering that you get from all the trees is wonderful. I joke with people when I tell them about this hike... More

Forest Park was an amazing drive through park that we took as we explored the area. There are several trails to hike. The only hard part can be to find parking, but it wasn't a problem.

It's like being in the mountains. Plenty trees and trails. A true gem for hikers, walkers, runners, mt. bike, or cyclocross training rides.

Forest Park is the largest urban forested park in the country and it is so nice to have it so close to my home! I have a 5 minute drive to get to a trail head that leads me into a beautiful forested sanctuary. The tree canopy keeps the trail cool on hot summer days and is also somewhat of... More

We only explored the trail to the Witches Castle, which was easily accessible and more of a stroll than a hike. The trail leads down the bottom of a steep canyon, with moss hanging from all the branches and the feeling that you're in another mysterious world, far from the city. The old stone building that is the Witches Castle... More

Forest Park is something to experience. The park is 8 miles long and 2 miles wide. You can really feel like you are in the wilderness, yet you are on the edge of an urban area.
