This small powerful area is amoungst the rose garden, park, playground, and picnic areas. One has to drive a bit to get to it from the Rose Garden; walking is ok too. A beautiful part of Portland.

We had never visited this memorial, which has been in the park since 2004. We found it very thoughtfully created and a moving tribute. It is laid out to represent a town square like those where Jews were rounded up before being sent to concentration and labor camps. Strewn about are bronze replicas of the sorts of objects lost in...

A wall, some very moving documents, and a number of small bronze sculptures recreate the moments of loss--loss of a teddy bear, a violin, glasses, a suitcase. Loss of more than six million people. There is nothing we can ever do to hold this much loss, but the sculptures of the small specific belongings bring home the theme of loss...

Very touching I read a lot about the holocaust and the small memorial will leave u with big questions they did a wonderful job
I have an interest in WWII & the Holocaust, so we made sure to stop by the memorial while we were visiting the area. It's not large, and would probably not warrant a dedicated trip, but there are a number of things to do in Washington Park (where this is located). Reading the history etched into the wall was moving,...

An easy to get to site within Washington Park. Various personal tribute sculptures make this especially moving. A dignified honoring of individuals caught in a horrific time.
This memorial is one of the most touching in Portland. My kids are haunted by it -- bronze toys scattered about the grounds as a tribute to the children who lost their lives in the holocaust. The only really bad thing about the memorial is that it's very hard to find if you are not familiar with Washington Park. It's...

Very tastefully done. You can get a feel for what some of the people went through. Very touching and thought provoking.
This monument is one of the simplest yet powerful Holocaust tributes that I have ever witnessed and this includes many in the US and Europe. For those that really do not understand what horrors that occurred during the Hitler regime, there is a simple but moving letter from a young girl on the wall that tells it all! This is...

This memorial had me emotionally invested as soon as I walked up to the memorial and saw the bronze sculptures scattered on the path leading to it, it felt like items lost along the way by those who would utlimately loose their lives in the concentration camps, a child's doll, a violin, eyeglasses. The memorial itself gives an overview of...
