Either before or after you visit the Cape Blanco Lighthouse, you might want to see the Hughes Historic House.
When I went through the house with my wife, I was reminded of certain older homes I had seen in my childhood and up to my teen years. Many of the building and woodworking styles were similar.

Its just off the road to Cape Blanco. Restored and gives an historic view to life on the coast 100 years ago.
This is a fun house to tour through. For the era it was built, it was quite modern. The tour guide was very friendly and informative.
This place is beautiful!! Sitting on a bluff overlooking the river & within hiking distance to the ocean - it is such a gem!! Decorated just as it was originally - the house & furnishings are a step back in time. If you enjoy historically correct experiences - this is the place to visit. It is manned by knowledgable volunteers....

It was interesting to see how an Irish family could arrive with nothing and start a business that allowed them to build a house with all the latest luxuries in the middle of nowhere. The living history sketch was very well done
Our tour guide was very friendly and nice. His wife was a doll! They made a cute pair! The house itself does not have very many original furniture pieces but it was still interesting to see.
