Mt. Hood is truly a majestic sight. It often appears suddenly as you travel toward it and it looms huge and snow capped. In the spring the forests around it are greening up and flowers abound around every corner. Beautiful photos are guaranteed...the best are obtained in the morning and the evening when the shadows recede. The Fruit Loop out... More

On a clear day, we headed for Mt. Hood to see the wildflowers and the snow sparkle in the sunlight. It was breathtaking. We ate lunch at the elegant old lodge on the mezzanine overlooking the lobby with its beautiful rock fireplace. We stopped at the Mt. Hood Cultural Center and Museum just down the road to learn about Steiner... More

We flew into Portland and decided to spend a day making this trip. Beautiful scener. Make sure you stop by the orchard stores and pick up some jelly/jam/syrup. You can make a full day by making the loop and driving back to Portland.

Shasta but beautiful just the same driving along it is hard to concentrate on your drive with all these natural wonders all around and springtime up here and all the tulips , daffodils and lilac are all in full bloom , the moist air smells so refreshing it makes the long grueling drive well... Tip: Try to go to the Lost Lake. Supposedly it has the best view. But during the winter is impossible to get there. The road was full of snow and ice. Anyways the views are amazing even if you don't reach the lake area (check my pics). The Timberline Lodge is another place recommended by Lonely Planet to enjoy the... More
