Samuel Boardman is a State "Scenic Area". Highway 101 runs right through it and there is no fee to enter. We have been to probably all of the little "viewpoint" parking areas along the 12 mile stretch of the scenic corridor. Some of the areas require walking along a trail to see the views, but in other areas you can... More

Having just traveled north from Monterey and the Big Sur it was hard to imagine any coastline equal to that magnificent coastline; however, the Samuel Boardman State Scenic Drive is a close second. After you travel past the Harris State Park (which one should not miss) the drive begins with turnouts, it seems, every 1/4 to 1/2 mile. Some require... More

This strip of the Oregon coastline deserves your attention. Our day was drawing to an end and still had a good way to drive, but we still found ourselves pulling over and grabbing a few photos. Then we'd take just a moment to feel the magnitude of what we were seeing, but the road kept demanding we get back on... More

It was a little hard to find, until we realized that the park runs along the coast and can be accessed from any of the scenic stops along the ocean-side of the highway. The trail leads you through beautiful, lush fern-covered forest with glimpses here and there of the ocean. Walk far enough and you'll be able to find a... More

This is a pull off from 101 and it is definitely worth a stop!!! It's so beautiful!!! You only have to walk down a path (under 100 ft) to a wooden overlook and BAM! you see the beauty of nature!

The "park" is really an eight-mile long corridor of cliff top viewpoints along U.S. Highway 101, overlooking offshore arches and rocks, along with steep-sided coves and even some sand dunes. Many viewpoints are great places to spot whales in the winter.

The park includes a number of places where you can park and view a variety of the best scenery on the Oregon Coast. Arch Rock, natural bridges, Whale's Head Beach and lots of high, dramatic cliffs and rock formations with lots of beautiful greenry to include ferns, hosta, wild flowers in season, a variety of evergreen and deciduous trees and... The park has fantastic and well groomed trails and ocean views and rock formations that are unique for anywhere in this country. Let your husband waste his time salmon fishing while you and the kids have a terrific time enjoying Boardman State Park.

Our hike on the coast was the best ever. We have the best photos from one of our best vacations. The locals are so blessed!
