From paintings by Renoir to sculptures by Alexander Calder to a vast glass collection, you'll find wonderful treasures here. Founder and first president Edward Drummond Libbey wanted to build a place where art was accessible to everyone, hence the museum's free admission policy, which continues to this day. « less

It was a quiet, comfortable and enjoyable day when we visited the Toledo Museum of Art. If you're visiting Toledo, this is a great place to check out the glass blowing. You can take a load off for awhile and watch someone make a glass vase (or whatever they decide to make that day). Pretty neat.

In Toledo there are two prominent museums: the Toledo Museum of Art and the Glass Museum which are across the street from each other. Admission is free for both. Quite an amazing collection of art at both places and shouldn't be missed. There were three pre-Raphelite paintings which are difficult to find. Also a few Van Gogh's, Renoir, Degas and... More

This lovely museum has used the benefit of its endowment to create a first rate permanent collection, including Picasso, Rodin, Renior, a fabulous Matisse tile wall and many more wonderful items. In addition, it brings traveling collections from around the world. We spent 5 hours there one day, and did not complete a tour of the museum. The display of... More

Others have commented on the quality and extent of the permanent collection, as well as the magnificent exhibitions. Another great part of the museum experience is their It's Friday program. This weekly set of activities includes public tours, glassblowing demonstrations, visiting artists, topical films, presentations, wine tastings and jazz performances, all in wonderful settings. Combine this with the excellent food... More

I went to the museum to spend the day and a wonderful day it was! The exhibits are great and easy to follow. Lots of written explanations of art work. The outdoor sculptures are well worth stepping outside to see!

The Toledo Museum of Art is a first rate art museum. Their collection is vast and has many of the great masters. You can see all the work of all sorts of artists from Peter Paul Reubens to Monet and Van Gogh to Picasso. It is a wonderful place. You are also allowed photography with no flash.

I was not sure what to expect concerning the quality of this museum but I was pleasantly and positively surprised. The quality and quantity of the exhibits were impressive. The structure and facilities provide an appropriate atmosphere for a lovely afternoon of art appreciation.

For a smaller art museum, the Toledo Museum of Art has some excellent holdings. My favorite room features abbey pillars from various periods around a central interior courtyard. The food area is a bit tough to find, but worth it when you do. The auditorium is great for musical events. They also feature hands-on activities for youth. A really nice... More

The museum has a separate building - with glass walls inside and out - to house their extensive collection of glass. There is also a "hot shop" ion where you can watch glass being blown, shaped and fired. The collection of glass is very comprehensive - ancient to modern. It's a fascinating and well worth a visit!
