We went to this centre in February this year. It was much better then I thought it would be. It was very open and larger then I thought. Although a large portion deals with the mine directly there are lots of other things from around the region like how the Batman Bridge was built. The museum is very hands on... More

Filling in time on the North East coast and fell upon the museum. It was near the anniversary of the cave in so we dropped in for a quick look. 3 hours later we dragged ourselves out. A great combination of passed mining/Aust history with the more recent tale to tell. A clever combination of old and new history. Some... More

Very interesting to see this display. Not quite very exciting for a female but my husband thought it was great and read everything about each display he really absorbed it all. More

We were impressed with this mining museum. It is well laid out with wonderful historic displays. It was also interesting to see that it is still a working mine where you can see the ore being moved up the conveyor belt. It even has a stamping mill. It is an easy drive from Launceston. We stopped here on the way... More

This is well worth a visit, lots of great information on mining and great interactive displays. The mine disaster is handled with great sensitivity and this gives a good idea of this little town and the banding together of the community around this event. The knitted scarf was such an appropriate thing for the people to do and the interest... More

This centre provides a very comprehensive display of mining, and old time artifacts. You enter a museum first, and then onto special walkways which go through mining sites which still have the machinery in place. The displays and information is very interesting. The museum houses a cross section of mining and social history. They also have a very comprehensive souvenir... More
