Smashing pub with a great juke box and the beer was fantastic. If you are in town make sure you call in the landlord will make you feel very welcome. Its small and cosy with the fire glowing away and the real ales are excellent.

Well, I've finally found the best pub in the world - The Tanners Arms in Alnwick. Wow, what a place! Nowadays I avoid pubs like the plague, but this was something else. Just off the main road, it's a one room 'proper' pub (as opposed to one of those dreadful corporate bars which seem to be ubiquitous in every town...

What alovely friendly pub! We were recommended this by staff from the hotel and we weren't disappointed. Small, clean, roaring fire, decorated tastefully for hallowen, landlord chatty( but not in your face)customer of every age, locals and visitors made welcome. The range of ales available was impressive.Loved the tree in the middle of room.A wonderful pub only wish we were in Alnwick for longer!
What a wonderful public house. Welcoming, intimate with a fine selection of ales...and a tree in the centre of the room! Friendly proprietor, only wish we could have stayed longer!
Called here both days, Alnwick Brown Ale is a great pint my hubby says. I had Gin and Tonic. Tree in the pub, small and intimate place. Great people to chat to - brother of the landlord and a younger man the day after. Locals were very chatty and recommended everything that we had decided to do and it turned...

Quet, single roomed historic pub just away from the main tourist route, but well worth the 100 yard walk up Hotspur Street. Very knowledgable, and keen, landlord/proprietor serving 4 loccal ales on handpump. Deserves to do well - give it a ry if proper beer is what you are looking for. Its the only decent beer we found in Alnwick....

In 2011 Ben took over The Tanners Arms and now its a totally different pub!! He has an excellent range of well kept real ales at reasonable prices. The place is now clean and inviting with a lovely welcoming woodburning stove. The open mic music sessions (last Friday of every month) are great fun and always popular. Here's wishing Ben...

This is a proper pub in every sense of the word. The night we visited there were people spilling out onto the street, a fantastic range of beers and spirits, great live music, baked goods being given out by the owner and friendly regulars, all of which combined to create a wonderful atmosphere. It was clear to see why the...
