It is especially good with smaller children as you do not have the job of trains and undergrounds and a long walk like London. It is small, packed full of exhibits, lots of information and a delight to go to. Very child friendly, they can lay on the floor and gaze at the little stuffed birds and animals and not... More

We visited the museum on the cold, wet Bank Holiday Monday. I spent many hours exploring the museum as a child, but this was my first visit with my husband and 2 children aged 8 & 6. The building is beautiful & its like stepping back in time looking at all the old fashioned/style wooden display cases. When we arrived... More

I'll keep this one breif; this museum is fab, the displays are great (and really capture my sons attention) and the building is very well kept, plus the cafe is good value, with a nice range of things. It is somewhat small, however, so if you're a fast walker, it won't take you long to get around. More

This place is just lovely - the building itself, exhibits, old display cases and the displays themselves. I remember being terrified of the big gorilla as a child and opening up the wooden cases to see the spiders and the giant crab. It's like stepping back in time - in a good way! More

Although I live n earby and can visit quite often it is a few years since I went to this museum. The first time I went because my my Uncle spent his youth just after WW1 classifying and writing the cards for the butterfly collection - these have now been moved to the main museum in London. The main elements... More
