They tell you it's interesting. Maybe it is, if you like monotonous journey in a ferry for 3 hours. Trust me, it gets to you. To sight a few dolphins (which are too scared to come out thanks to multiple motor boats going to see them) travelling 1.5 hrs to and fro did not seem worth the 1200 we paid... More

Location wise the BEST place to stay. Right on the banks of the Chilka Lake. But don’t go for the NON-AC rooms as they are not maintained, are dirty with flakes coming off the walls. The balconies are also in a bad shape. We stayed in AC Cottage. They are very clean, rooms are big with powerful AC, very clean... More

Any visitor to puri must include a day trip to chilka lake. A 45 min drive from Puri takes you to sipakuda in east chilkha from where the boat trip starts. The earlier starting point of satpada is not currently operational because of some local tension. it is ideal to start early from puri to time to reach chilka by... More

It's massive spread lake which attracts birds from Europe and Asian continents. Wonderful place for serene feeling and enjoying nature at the best. The sea mouth is 68 kms by boat from the stay place. The place can be reached by road from Bhubaneswar (about 100 Kms, takes 2 hours). Public transport is limited, hence need to hire a car.... More

the lake is very nice but dont forget to carry ur own food & water coz the options there are worst. the walk on the deserted island is serene with the lake on one side while the ocean on the other. but dont go in the evening coz there is no inhabitant & temporary food sellers vanish by late afternoon. If ur a bird lover or wildlife photographer, chances are that the Chilika Lake will mesmerise u. It is the abode to one of the biggest stopovers of migratory birds. There are a nos of Islands scattered over the place with some good resorts. Boats are the only way of commuting between the lakes. The Boat rides are a costly... More

Boating on Chilika Lake, located at Satpada some 90 mins drive from Puri , is an awesome experience . But one must be wary of those who sell pearls at very high prices, nearly 15-20 times their real worth . Although much advertised, dolphins are practically a " no show", you just get to see some tails or small backs.... More
