What a beautiful piece of history, not only preserved, but lovingly looked after and still innovative and fresh.
We picked a wonderful time to visit with the last days of the sculpture symposium next door and a wonderful Sculpture Exhibition in the grounds. Keeping the grounds in their natural state as how heyson would have painted them is an amazing...

The best - provides a real sense of living history. Curator is a gem - extremely knowledgeable. Should be a compulsory visit for all schools, visitors and new arrivals.

Not always open but if you like Hans Heysen's work - this is a must-see. Authentic, original and a wonderful opportunity to see nature through his eyes, almost exactly as it would have been on his property, 70-80 years ago.

Beautiful setting with huge gumtrees that our famous painter, Hans Heyson, painted and lived. The old house is full of his history and who visited him etc. as well as his separate studio left as his last day.

I went to the Cedars with a group of about 20 and loved it all. We had a guided tour of Heysen's studio and house. What an interesting story - and such beautiful works on show. A great gift shop too with a good variety of books, cards, etc. A 'must do'.

This must be one of Australia's most lovingly kept artist's home and studio. Set in the Hills and amid the gum trees he made famous, you can walk through the house on an excellent guided tour or wander through the grounds to see the studio where Hans Heysen painted his wonderful Australian creations.

Hans Hysen was a wonderful landscape and still life artist. His family generously keeps the gorgeous home and garden open to the public. Make sure that you do the guided tour of the house. You will see Hysen's studio and the stunning house which is filled with his beautiful paintings.
