We have just returned from 10 days in the Flinders Ranges. 3 days was spent at Arcaroola.the whole of the Flinders Ranges is breathtakingly beautiful. Arcaroola is in the northern ranges with lots of walking and driving tracks. The ranges are 500 million !years old! The colors of the rock formations are deep red and burnt orange with much of... Stayed at Mawson Lodge for 2nsd time. Ridgetop tour is brilliant, but better still using our own small 4wd exploring the tracks and waterholes is fantastic. We did the 40k plus mines track, some rough tracks but worth every bump. The view from Frome Lookout is totally under-rated. This is the best untouched part of Aus. More

We camped at Arkaroola and really enjoyed our stay. Being remote in the Australian outback our expectations were set that it we were going for the location not the creature comforts. As campers we had access to 5kms of bush camping locations set along a creek and well separated from the main buildings. We still had access to a flushing... More

Stayed at Arkaroola in April 2012. The accommodation we stayed in, Callitris Lodge, had just been updated. All staff are helpful and friendly. The Ridge Top Tour is a must even if you have your own 4x4 as visitors are not able to access this track. Tour guides are full of interesting facts regarding the history of the area, thanks... More

As a kid I went to Arkaroola many times with family, and coming back as an adult was just as good. Two things on the absolutely-must-do list are the Ridge-top Tour and and the observatory. If you do the ridge-top tour in the morning, rug up well, as it can be freezing cold. Bring a camera and binoculars, as the... More

I have just returned from 3 nights at Arkaroola with friends. We stayed in Wallaby cottage which is sorely in need of a total renovation. It gives the impression of having been built 30-40 years ago and neglected since. However, there are newer units and other older ones being renovated - these looked very attractive from the outside. We chose... More

I recently visited Arkaroola for the first time - I've been to the Flinders many times and recommended numerous overseas friends there - and I will definitely be recommending friends to now go the distance to Arkaroola. Fantastic scenery, wildlife, walking trails and much more. Recommend a helicopter ride over the area and a ridgetop ride (I was there on... More

Contrast of our bush, arid areas.dry creek beds. magnificent ranges. The area had March rains, and wildflowers were abundant in August. Just so lucky. Dont just go for a day, stay 2 or 3 if nature, walks, geology, animals appeal it is truly a great wilderness santuary. Staff great. More
