The highlight is definitely the anchor of the Endeavour recovered from the reef a few years back. The museum building is an-ex convent and is a very fine building. Definitely recomended. More

Located in an old convent. Great colonial building with a modern extension housing information about Cook's visit. Also plenty of items referring to life in the years gone. More

An interesting historical museum of the history of Cooktown and it's surrounds. Interesting displays on the history of the Aboriginal people and their responses to Captian Cook's arrival and also of their history of treatment by the European Colonizers. Also interesting Chinese section showing their impact on the area during the gold rush. More

Easy to browse though, even 9year old boys enjoyed it. Make sure you head out to the balcony upstairs and enjoy the view. More
