This is worth an afternoon to see first-hand, the huge size of this coal mining operation. My personal guess is that because of size of the facilities, the related cost to restore them and an impending safety factor, the opportunity to go through them all will be limited in the near future. So for a full experience, go now. More

We went on the recommendations of a family member. It was well worth it. The site and the history is amazing. We went on a walking tour with two other people and our guide. The visitor centre also contains the small museum displaying the history of Nordegg and it's coal mining heydey. It was a very interesting story telling of the birth and death of a coal mining town. This summer my family (2 young kids) and I took a tour of the Brazeau Colleries National Historic Site. I'm not really a history buff, but it was an entertaining way to spend a few hours.
