I have been to Dovedale since I was a small child and I love it. Walking for miles or just a short stroll by the river or in the river on a hot day as the water is shallow and climbing up the mountain. Our family have spend many happy days at Dovedale.

We visited bank holiday Monday and arrived early . car park cost £2.50. Already busy. Far too many other people and dogs. Bus loads on the way back and queues to cross on the stepping stone bridge. Need two, one each way. Queues of cars waiting to get into car park when we left. Toilets there and a hut serving... More

This is not the longest walk but certainly is relaxing with some stunning scenery. Starting at the Asbourne end of Dovedale the walk to Millfield is easy, following a well walked path. However you have two further options, walk back to a wooden bridge, cross over and follow the track up the hillside and back through fields to the car... More

I've been to this place probably 20+ times. One of the of beautiful places in the UK. Lovely river and caves to explore. Plenty to keep you occupied all day. Best to bring a picnic as it's quite remote. Best of all; it's free! Suitable for families, couples, friends- everyone really.

We went to Dovedale during the easter weekend, it was cold and snow was still on the slopes however it was much quieter than expected for some of the reviews on Tripadvisor. It is was a small winding road to get to, which we did not think was well signposted and were pleased we had the SATNAV. If you are... More

Beautiful place for a day out, lovely walks set in stunning countryside. The ravine has tracks on both sides of the river and stepping stone blocks across the river. The one track is paved but the other is not, just trails through the grass and stones. There is a lovely small kiosk near to the entrance/car park that sells beautiful... More

Brilliant walk along the river, kids loved the caves etc. could have walked all day, very mucky in places and still ice and snow on the ground but it added to the fun!
