Only worth it if you are passing by, not for a special trip. After sampling the tequila we we decided to purchase a few bottles from there shop only to find out that bottled tequila didnt taste anything like the one we tasted at presentation, its actually tasted really bad! Way too smokey! We did take some nice pics at... More

I live in Akumal, about 100+ kilometers from Valladolid, so this is a very good opportunity to see the processes involved with making tequila, even though, technically, this cannot be tequila. It was a slow Wednesday around noon, and they had to get a tour guide from the fields, as well his amigo to lead the horse around the crushing... More

My girlfriend and I took the tour and were fascinated by the traditional nature of this operation. They do everything manually, and the amount of work that goes into producing the "tequila" at the end is staggering. We enjoyed the tour and the tasting, although I am not a fan of tequila. My girlfriend bought some in the shop, as... More

We were fortunate enough to be at the distillery on a Thursday when they cook the "pineapples". My husband and I were the only tourists there and the owner took us for a tour. It was so fascinating to watch how Tequila is made. It was a great tour and would highly recommend it. More

Tour was only 30 pesos per person and ended with tasting of all the tequila. It was interesting to see how it was made from plant to bottle. Worth the stop. More

Take the tour! Not only do you see how tequila is made, but you have the opportunity to taste 3 different ages. More

Interesting tour but... When we asked them to call us a taxi they said just walk over there and a taxi will come. Yeah right... Blisteringly hot on what is basically a freeway. Walked about a mile before a cab stopped. He already had a passenger but still charged us 20 pesos more than the guy who took us out... More

The Desterileria is about 5km +/- north of the city--about 50 pesos (about US$4.50) by taxi. This was such a fun part of our vacation. Enrique gave my bf and I a tour which took about 30 min. He walked us through the whole process. It was great! At the end we got to sample the different products. One tip... More

I had heard the hearts of the agave were called pineapples (piñas) and had this preconceived notion of them being the size of pineapples as well. Was I wrong! The piñas are huge. It must take two or three men to move them! But they did have the wonderful aroma of pineapples as they were cut to smaller sizes, crushed,... More

We got a little lost around Valladolid, driving from Cancun to Merida. Glad we did! We stumbled upon this small aritsan tequila distillery and really enjoyed the tour and tasting. Superb tequila! Great people. Stop in if you are in the area or near Chichen Itza. More
