Half moon bay was great. It is a little difficult to get in the water due to the shoreline being pretty rocky. The snotkeling was generally very good. We saw lots of turtles. We saw a resident giant barracuda and many small colorful, tropical fish. We even saw an octopus scurry along the bottom. I would like to urge caution... More

We walked from Akulma beach to the half moon bay, it was a nice area, but it was mainly for the private residents there. No amenities, I would just stay at the Akulma Beach and swim with those nice turtles.

I have stayed on half-moon bay three times in two years. La Sirena #3 is my home away from home. Amazing snorkeling is right outside the front door. I have no desire or need to stay anywhere else! Comfortable, safe, beautiful, rustic, and off the beaten path... it is a Mexico secret that is just too good to not share... More

We called after the lagoon and had lunch before relaxing on the beach. It was far quieter than the main beach in Akumal and you could find a space for yourself if you wanted. Spent the afternoon snorkelling, didn't see a turtle but did catch a couple of shots of small rays. There were afew fish about as well as... More

Short 20-30 minute walk from Akumal Beach. Easiest way to get there is taking the Akumal North road close to the Akumal Ecological Center. The road is very scenic with beautiful villas. Half Moon Bay is home to La Buena Vida restaurant/bar. Gorgeous view of Half Moon Bay and well worth the visit. Bring your snorkeling gear too but be... More

Half Moon Bay is a very relaxed, laid back bay, away from the crowds in Akumal Bay. It has good snorkelling (if you can find the coralls - as they are only on a relatively small area of the bay). It can get quite windy and wavy that makes snorkeling less enjoyable. Don't miss La Buena Vida restaurant!

This special bay captures what you imagine with you visit the Riviera Maya - white sand beaches, warm water, great snorkeling tropical beaches and best of all not crowed.

So close to PDC makes this beach a must. Snorkeling here is awesome! All sorts of wildlife in the ecosystem here. CEA stays near and makes sure that the animals are always safe. Snorkel gear and life vests are available for rent. Just a few dollars. There is also a store out on the main road where you can stock... More

We rented Casa Tucan, a house across the road, in February. Beach access was a bit difficult. There was a trail south of our home and we were able to access the beach with a 5 minute walk, but someday when all the beachside lots are filled with homes, there will be no easy beach access. We had hoped to... More

We stayed at a condo on Half Moon Bay. The view was very nice and we had a nice breeze. Snorkeling is good here. Swimming is a little bit of an issue because it is shallow. You also need water shoes to get in as there is broken up coral that gets washed in from the outer reef. We like... More
