This beautiful beach is open to the public and free. There is lots of coral, beautiful fish and turtles! We saw 5 turtles while snorkeling there. Amazing place...actually, it's our favorite spot in riviera maya. If you don't have a vest or snorkeling equipment you can rent them at the dive shop. They also have lockers to rent, clean bathrooms,... More

We did this as an excursion from our hotel and it was a great one. We spent about an our and a half in the ocean and felt like five minutes. The Turtles are so cute and huge, we watched them for awhile and I can't believe that they are used to so many humans. The coral reef was full... More

Not to impressed. After snorkeling, we were ready to get back to the resort but ate the included lunch which wasn't that great and had to pay extra for drinks.

Please go swim at akumal ! You do have to be able to swim against the ocean current a short ways but if you can the pay off is worth it! Bring your snorkel mask and watch the big beautiful sea turtles gracefully swim below you. If you're lucky maybe one will come up for air by you and steal... More

Don't need an expensive tour to enjoy this wonderful display of nature. Bus, Taxi, Rental Car, Skateboard - just get there. Affordable snorkeling gear at the beach provided by very helpful attendants. The turtles are great - peaceful and docile - they let us observe them. A big thank you to the friends that recommended Akumal.

We brought our own equipment, but you can rent by the parking lot or the stand right on the beach. You can pay to take a tour or just do it yourself. First time we saw many turtles. Second time missed out on turtles but saw stingrays and fish. Always a fun time.

Took a taxi to Akumal from Peurto Aventuras ($20 us). Walked to the beach and hired a snorkeling guide. My goal was to see turtles. I was with my 9 year old daughter and knew if I did not have a guide I would never find the turtles. So, I paid $50 for Carlos to guide the two of us.... More

Its a guarantee to see turtles, our tour guide Emmy, was excellent. We also saw sting rays, the coral reef and a baracuda. Everything we saw got within arms reach of us, so the photos are great. It was amazing to see such beautiful creatures.

This was my favourite part of my holiday to Mexico. I went on 15th May 13 with a company called Underwater World lead by a lady called Pamela. She was a very friendly and passionate tour guide with excellent knowledge. The experience was just incredible! I was slightly apprehensive before arriving as I had been spending time in the sea...
