You do not have to go to Toronto to enjoy first class theatre or Live performances. The talent is amazing & the Venue quite comfortable. Sound is very good for a remodeled movie house. Seating about 400, call early as most performances sell out quickly. More

For a small theatre, they provide excellent, reasonably priced entertainment. We have attended concerts, musicals, and comedies and every one has been exceptional. They have very professional talent and due to the size of the theatre, every seat has a perfect view, and great sound. Always a great time! More

The seats are well upholstered but very narrow as they date back 100 years when bodies were very thin on the average so it can be very uncomfortable watching a stage production. That is what keeps me from going back to see the world class entertainment that they host in this theatre plus there is a very real problem with... More

We have enjoyed some really great shows at this small theatre in Port Hope. We make it a day outing on Sundays when we go for the matinee and then an early dinner. Last season we saw Hairspray and actually enjoyed it much more than the movie. They have a lot of well know Canadian artists which to us makes... More

Saw three movies here during the Vintage Film Festival. Place is staffed with really nice volunteers. The theatre itself is gorgeous - one of two remaining atmospheric movie theatres in Canada. Loved the twinkling starlit ceiling. Space upstairs for events, lots of clean and roomy bathrooms. Underwent a recent overhaul and is stunning. More

I went to see Hair Spray on a girls night out and it was so much fun. Port Hope is a fantastic little town. Where else can you park right in front of a theatre on the street and go in a watch a play? We had dinner right around the corner then walked into the theatre at 4 minutes... More

Went to see a live play at this theatre. The venue is very quaint, it has a star filled ceiling and the seats are very comforable with plenty of leg room for even the tallest people. Performances are usually excellent although we have seen a couple over the years that we not so good. More

The Capitol really is a gem! It has great [professional] theatre - their summer shows are terrific, and the casting is amazing. The Capitol brings in live acts year round - everyone from Jesse Cooke to Michael Burgess & Doug Riley to Joe Sealy & Molly Johnson to Lorne Elliott & Nancy White. As well they show films from the... I have been attending events at the Capitol Theatre in Port Hope for many years and can attest to the fact that it is a great venue for music, comedy, and good theatre. I especially like the summer plays and musicals, and very frequently attend other events. Tthe renovated premises are top notch. I will continue to go to events... More
