The Cape Breton Highlands National Park has so much to offer. There is the Cabot Trail - a dream road. The sandy beaches on the east side are excellent for a swim. Then there are a lot of great hiking trails. Here my favorites: Skyline, Coastal and Franey. There are beautiful picnic areas too. One must not forget the flora... More

Great hikes, great cliffs, great views and moose. The visitors' centre at the west entrance is also worth a hour to see the exhibits. But plan ahead, there's no accomodation in the park and places to the north can be busy.

The Cabot Trail is the proof that it's only a local call if you want to speak to God. I am an eighth generation Cape Bretoner and no matter how many times I go over the trail (and I have been at least 100x) it never ceases to take my breath away. So many places to see, stop, take in... More

Incredible sights along the anew Scotland! Breathtaking views and the warmest people in a cooler climate. We loved our four day getaway. A pod of pilot whales entertained us for quite a while. Don't think I'll ever forget the dominant male who stood straight up to get a looksee at us. Huge bull moose feeding in the late evening in... More

This park is unbelievably beautiful. You never know what is around the next curve. Be sure to allow several days. Only drawback - make sure you keep your car fueled. It can be a jaunt to the next little town and some stations close very early!

We only had one day (drove out from Sydney) but still saw a lot. The Cabot Trail drive alone makes the trip worth while but there is so much else to do. There are numerous short trails that can be worked into a day trip and small museums as well. We drove the side road to one of the proclaimed... More

Just be careful you don't fly off the road while you are oohing and aahing around every hill and bend in the road! Fortunately, there are plenty of places to turn-off and gaze at the mesmerizing scenery.

Cape Breton national park was all that we expected it to be apart from the red trees. We'd been looking forward to seeing the autumn colours here but as there had been a particularly warm autumn the colours were not brilliant. However the scenery made up for it and we had the most amazing 3 days including a really good... More
