My fiance and I took a half-day kayaking tour while visiting Cape Breton this summer. The tour guides were extremely qualified, had interesting stories to relate about the shoreline and the birds and animals in the area, and made kayakers of every skill level feel at ease. The waterfall we hiked up to at lunch time was beautiful, and gave... More

We did the one day guided tour that included a nice lunch. The team at NRKT are a lot of fun and really try to make you feel at home. Angelo, the owner, is always on-site helps the guides get everyone fitted and in the water. We had Justin as a guide and you can tell he really enjoys his... More

I stumbled upon North River Kayak Tours when I was visiting Cape Breton looking for a day of exploring outside and moving after 4 days of touring by car. As a newbie to kayaking, North River Kayak Tours turned out to be for me the perfect intro to sea-kayaking, or any kayaking for that matter. AJ, Justin and Rosie were... More

We enjoyed a wonderful morning with Justin. The location is very nice, and Justin was great to point out the birds and other interesting things on our way. The banana bread and tea was great and the waterfall at the lunch spot was a bonus. We saw a family of eagles several times. More

A friend and I took a 1/2 day tour, our guides were Andrew Jamieson (A.J.) and Justin. Along with owner/operator Angelo, they gave quick, clear and informative instruction (after making time to introduce everyone in the group) and were patient when helping us get set up with our gear, and in/out of our kayaks at the dock and on the... 1/2 day spent kayaking with North River Kayaks was highlight of our trip to Nova Scotia. We had beautiful weather and couldn't have asked for a more pleasant and knowledgeable guide than Justin. Would highly recommend. More

I just came back from another fabulous trip to the Cabot Trail. This time I was able to kayak four out of five days with these amazing guides from North River Kayak Tours. The guides lead you in a group, and are very mindful of your kayaking ability. They stay close to the beginners, encouraging them and helping them with... More

We had an amazing weekend. Don't miss the hike to the falls and the overnight at Stephens B&B. We arrived Friday night, got a good night sleep and ate a tasty breakfast, then hiked to the falls on Saturday with Andrew Jamieson ( A.J.) It was a nine hour round trip adventure. Our 9 year old son was at the... More

I had the chance to kayak with a guide named Mat, and another couple, and the whole time it felt like I was kayaking with a friend and not a guide I just met. Mat told jokes, stories, even told us about his other job, building a wooden-frame barn with a buddy of his. I originally wanted to do the... More

We did a half day trip and this was the first time that we had kayaked. It was breezy when we left but when we started back the wind had come up and we really had to work to try and make headway. We were quite uneasy and were very relieved when we got back to shore. I don't think this was... More
