I agree with other reviewers (serendipiti and karuna) 100% If it is on your way, a must-see. If you drive here just for this, it may be a let-down depending how much you are into turtles (or not). Yes, it may be seen as pricey, but I view it as a "donation you make for a good cause -- and... More

This tourist attraction is a very basic set up. They do not get much funding other than donations from tourists. Most of the funding in sri lanka goes to save the elephants. You will see a turtle hatchery where turtle eggs are buried in the sea sand. We were lucky enough to hold turtles that were born that morning. There... More

To sum it up: the turtle hatchery is a nice stop if you're passing by kosgoda on your way to i.e. galle anyway.it's not however worth to pay for an extra trip as the whole experience takes only about 10 minutes. The entrance fee is 300 Rp which is quite pricey but if u believe their story about the donation... More

This was the highlight of our tour of southern Sri Lanka!!! We arranged via the hotel to visit at circa 6pm this being the optimum time to help release 40 or so Green and Olive Ridley 3 day old turtles. we arrived promptly and help pick the little fellas from the holding tank and took a tuk tuk to the... An unassuming and low key venue off the Galle Rd. An informative guide and a nice chance to see some of these wonderful creatures close to hand. They obviously have limited resources but are doing a good job and gave us a good short tour of the place More

The guide was very good and informative. We were able to hold day old and fully grown turtles. Several injured turtles looked after here too. More

On my trip up the west coast I was particularly excited about seeing the turtles and learning more about them. This was a great place to visit as it was an opportunity to learn more from the guides who have a clear love of turtles and are doing a great job to protect them. I enjoyed holding the one day... Small but interesting place. 400Lkr entry is a bit pricey , considering size there is a "donation" box too inside...but its all in a good cause. You get to understand the reasons why the hatchery developed and the turtle life cycle and the species, plenty of freshly hatched turtles to coo over...The guide is informative and friendly and has worked... The most fascinating thing about this Hatchery is the types of turtles available but the guides there are lousy and do not give enough information. In most of teh times you have to wait till you start your tour. More
