I have family buried in Oakdale, but even if I didn't I would adore this tranquil place. Lots of history.

Truly a Wilmngton must-see. The walkways defined by incredibe (tomb)stones from modern day to intricate art work now only gazed upon or cared for by strangers, family now long gone. Traces of countless types of ironwork surround those fortunate enough to have family plots. The
chaperones are knowledgeable and careful to allow time to wander, but if one wanders away...

Very cool! Loved this! We really enjoyed the confederate cemetary! The yellow fever section was different. The masoleums were cool.
One of the great places to visit - many famous people are buried here - from the Kenan-Flagler matriarch, David Brinkley to Henry Bacon - see who you can find!
OK. Wife found this place at one of the travel sites, I wasn't really looking forward to visiting it but once I got there, I changed my mind. It's beautiful. Not a typical cemetery at all, this place has character, beautiful trees, flowers and the way it's broken up in sections if very nice. It's an interesting place to visit.

I am fortunate enough to live within walking distance of Oakdale cemetery and frequently go on walks there. Every time I go through I see something I have never seen before. There are so many beautiful markers, gates, and fences and the trees and flowers are lovely, especially when the camellias are blooming. There must be a thousand different routes...

In the springtime, this historical cemetery is a floral wonderland. The old growth dogwood, redbud, azaleas and bulbs are beautiful. Beautiful headstones from the Civil War era to present with some famous people who made their mark throughout the U.S.
HISTORY. Movies should be made here! I have many relatives here, so love to visit this place. Live Oaks and Spanish Moss give great atmosphere,
