Designed by renowned architect Willard Byrd, Lion’s Paw® is an open, hilly course that treats the golfer to spectacular views of a beautiful creek valley and its adjoining wetlands. Distinguished by towering hardwoods, bold contoured Mini Verde greens, spectacular water shots and mounds of sugar white sand marking deep bunkers and high embankments, this 18-hole layout in one of the Grand Strand’s most popular courses. Lion’s Paw® has multiple tee areas, more than 70 bunkers and generous mounding lining many fairways. The course has considerable elevation change throughout both nines. Water comes into play on 15 holes and beautiful wetland views can be seen from every hole. With oyster shells lining the lakes and creeks flowing across fairways, the layout is truly spectacular. Lion’s Paw® measures 7,003 yards from the blue tees with a slope of 138 and a 74.6 course rating. We booked Lions Paw with the thought that we would be playing a very well kept course. Upon entrance, the facilty appears to be well kept, and the staff was fine. Played 36 holes today. 18 at Lions Paw and 18 at Panthers Run which I played and reviewed yesterday. Lions Paw to me was just ok. Greens were very hard and made it tough to hold any shot and they were extremely fast. Fairways were in decent shape but really tight especially the way the wind was blowing. I am... More

Thanks for playing two rounds at The Big Cats Courses. Lion's Paw and Panther's Run are the older two of our four layouts and have been favored by locals and visitors for nearly 20 years.
