Ben Owen III has the most wonderful place of all those that we visited on our trip to Seagrove. The shop is full of beautiful one of a kind items in amazing glazes from Chinese Red to the traditional Owen family Cobalt Blue. Ben Owen is a gifted potter and if you love pottery his work will take your breath away. One of the best times to go is early November as all the potters are gearing up for the big festivals and are well-stocked. Ben's work is more about art then functionality--his works are too beautiful and expensive for everyday use. More

I went to a kiln opening right before Christmas. I've been before and have always had a nice time. Ben and his family are gracious hosts who take the time to tell you about the pottery and invite you to watch Ben make the pottery and he'll answer any questions. Any one interested in pottery should go. More

The inheritor of the potting traditions of the Piedmont, young Ben learned to throw and glaze at his grandfather's and father's knees and took his skills and talents to art school and then back home to Seagrove. He combines the best of traditional NC pottery... More
