Be drawn back into the past by a visit to Petticoat Lane. Original guttering on the road and original buildings. Just amazing. You can even stay in one of the old houses beautifully restored. National Trust looks after the area and their garden where you can pick up fresh produce is wonderful.

What a beautiful little laneway. Full of the most wonderful historical cottages and displays. Take a wander around the communal herb garden at the back of the old wooden cottage - for a donation you can take some of the local herbs with you.

Walking Petticoat was enjoyable. There is information presented along the way. The sharam cottages are interesting and worth exploration. Bring some cash to purchase fresh produce grown in the gardens. Otherwise, it is a free stroll.

The street's old houses and gardens are a lovely spot to visit on a nice day in Penola and we enjoyed spending an hour or so walking through the street and visiting the small historic houses there, which are looked after by the National Trust.

We stayed at Sarahs cottage nearby (so cute!) and went for a walk down Petticoat lane one night.
I'm not a big history person but found the houses and signs outside them really special and interesting.
At the last cottage (Sharrams?) - where they housed 14 odd people 100 years ago (wow) has a little herb garden out the back....

You cannot go to Penola without a stroll down Petticoat Lane. The nostalgia is apparent and it warms the cockles of the heart to see such lovely preserved cottages and gardens. Just beautiful...

It's a wonderful contribution to Penola. Clearly the efforts to bring the early years to life is embraced by the community. The old houses, shop, B and B and even a herb and vege garden delighted us. a walk down Petticoat Lane does not have to take long but it us well worth it.

It was gret to see this type of history preserved for future generations. Wht a fntastic job the locals have done. We went to the old cemetary to finish our history lesson. The people of Penola are so lucky to have this preserved for them and further generations.
It would be great if we had this in the big cities.
