We attended a Burning Coal production for the first time this past week; the 2-part adaptation of Thomas Hardy's "Jude the Obscure" (as a musical, no less). The acting was excellent. The whole experience really transported you to late 19th-century England. We will certainly be returning for other plays in the future. More

Wonderful theatre in downtown Raleigh which holds live productions about every 6 to 8 weeks. Some of the plays are brand new world premieres and some are classics but they are always enjoyable. I've been to many performances at Burning Coal, including seeing "Enron" this past weekend. "Enron" is an excellent example of the unusual and well acted shows they produce. The space is so small you are always close to the action. They consistently perform plays no one else in this area is doing - often edgy and daring, but always engaging.... More
