We stopped to take a closer look at the falls and glad we did, Looking Glass Waterfall was breath taking! Took lots of pictures and worth the stop.

Nice elevation gain. I hiked it during the week so I did not see many other hikers. Some pretty steep inclines but never felt the need to go with all fours at any time. A couple of nice views on the way up (have to use spur trails to see them but they are not far). I don't have the...

Looking Glass Rock is beautiful from a distance. However, the rounded surface at the top gives an optical illusion that it is flat. Many people have fallen to their deaths from this place. I advise admiring it from a distance. Friends of ours lost their dog when well-meaning dog sitters took it and their dog to the top on a...

After a full day at Biltmore House and Gardens, we decided to check out one of North Carolina's most accessible, (easiest to see from the road!) waterfall and, Looking Glass Rock/Falls did not disappoint! Only 20-30 minutes from Asheville, it was worth the detour on our way home. Pisgah National Forest is gorgeous and offers many recreational opportunities such as...

I guess this review is misleading because we didn't really hike up to the rock, but the falls were amazing! We drove through the Pisgah National Forest and saw two or three falls. We hiked a bit to a 40 foot fall, I think it was called "Coopers." One of the other hikers we saw told us not to bother...

My wife and I drove from Waynesville to Looking Glass Rock; it was a nice scenic drive. The parking lot to get up to Looking Glass Rock is very limited. It seems that the lot and the trail gets much busier the later in the day you wait; I would advise going early if possible.
The trail is very pleasant...

This area off the parkway on Hwy 276 near Brevard is so gorgeous. Dense forests and cool running water lead you onto the hiking trails eager for exploration. This rock face is awesome and can be seen for miles and mile on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Nature at it's best. We stayed in Asheville, so it was a drive to get to, but SO worth it. Lots to see in this area.
The views are worth it -- plan at least 3 hrs, since it is 6 miles to the top and back. I always pack a light picnic so we can eat while we enjoy the panorama at the top.
This is one of my favorite local hikes. It's 3 miles to the top, and well worth it. The view is spectacular! Most people stay close to the trail once they achieve the top, but feel free to explore some to the sides, too. I find the entire trail of interest. Please DO NOT cut across the switchbacks - it...
